If you have iTunes installed on your Windows machine, you are running the Windows iPod service. But if you don’t use an iPod, you don’t need this service. Here’s how to turn it off and save 4MB of memory:<\/p>\n

  1. Click the Start<\/strong> button and select Run…<\/strong> from the Start menu.<\/li>\n
  2. Type services.msc<\/samp> and press Enter<\/strong>. The Services management console is displayed.<\/li>\n
  3. Right-click iPod Service<\/strong> and select Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Click Stop<\/strong> to halt the service.<\/li>\n
  5. Change Startup type<\/strong> to Disabled<\/strong>. Click OK<\/strong> and close the console.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
